Review: No Reading Allowed: The Worst Read-Aloud Book Ever by Raj Haldar & Chris Carpenter, Illustrations by Bryce Gladfelter

Goodreads Blurb

From the #1 NEW YORK TIMES bestselling authors of P IS FOR PTERODACTYL comes another hilarious, fresh look at the English language!

The hero had super vision.
The hero had supervision.

Man, a tea sounds great.
Manatee sounds great!

Sir Francis Bacon
Sir, France is bakin’!

What is going on here?!
You can’t believe everything you hear! A single word can have many different meanings. And sometimes two words that sound alike can be spelled completely differently. Ptolemy the pterodactyl is back to show us all how absurd and fun language can be when homophones, homonyms, and tricky punctuation are at play!

No Reading Allowed allows children and their parents to laugh together while also learning something new. Perfect for baby gifts, birthday gifts, teacher gifts, and anyone who finds humor in the absurdity of the English language.

My Review: Rated 5 out of 5 stars

My favorite children’s book this year. I loved it. I love the diversity in the illustrations. The word usage is on point. It will get everyone who reads it tongue-tied. The illustrations are so fun and colorful. They have human characters, animals, and monsters. I love the inside of the cover with the animals on clouds reading books. This book also has a glossary for all the fun words in this book. I definitely learned some new words myself. Children will enjoy the funny images and image descriptions. This book is great for all ages. The kind of book we all need to have a few laughs along the way. I highly recommend this book. I received this book from Early Reads Sourcebooks for an honest review.

Review: Five Little Monsters Jumping on The Bed by Bill Cotter

Goodreads Blurb

A new take on the classic rhyme, Five Little Monkeys! Larry the monster is back in this perfect read-aloud from Bill Cotter, creator of the USA Today bestseller, Don’t Push the Button.

Larry is back! And this time he has enlisted his monster friends to cause monster mayhem! Prompts to “pet,”; “press,”; and “tickle”; the monsters make this a fun, interactive story that little ones will enjoy.

Five little monsters jumping on the bed.
One fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said,
“No more monsters jumping on the bed.”;

My Review: Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Such a cute monster book for children. I loved that it is an interactive book so the kids have prompts to make the monster feel better after they fell from the bed. The color choices on the monsters were perfect. They are not scary monster. Enjoy the story.

His past was supposed to stay in the past.

Dane, Last Five Seconds’ drummer, is the “quiet” one. It’s not just because his bandmates are boisterous and love sucking up the limelight.

It’s part of who he is, where he comes from. But he’s determined to break free from the chains of his past.

When it catches up to him, his comfortable world shatters, leaving him with an injured back and an inability to perform his work onstage. To get back on the road as soon as possible, he undergoes physical therapy to aid with his recovery.

Enter Charlie. As his physical therapist, she’s a hell of a caregiver, but she’s also feisty. Sometimes she’s abrupt. And snappy. And downright rude. And, like Dane, she’s got a few hidden scars.

But Dane sees something inside her, something that speaks to him. Although Charlie holds him at arm’s length, even after he’s no longer her patient, Dane is finally able to penetrate her armor. While his scars have never fully healed, hers go even deeper.

As they work through their past together, Dane is convinced it will make them stronger, but can they ever make it past their insecurities and hang ups enough to trust each other…or are they destined to be alone?

Review: His Christmas Cinderella by Christy Jeffries

Goodreads Blurb

An enchanted evening with a stranger leaves him wanting more…

A gift money can’t buy…

Super-rich rancher Jordan Taylor has it all—except someone to share his life with. What he really wants for Christmas is to win the heart of Camilla Sanchez, the hardworking waitress he met at a charity ball. Camilla thinks they are too different to make it work, but Jordan is determined to prove her wrong. She grants him his wish: three weeks to convince her he is worthy of her love. Perhaps this will be the holiday that changes everything…

My Review: Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this beautiful love story. The story resembled the Cinderella story. An eligible bachelor who comes from a wealthy family and a smart woman who works as a waitress looking to open her own business. Jordan is best known for his reputation. His eyes are always on the lookout for the next girl to date. He comes from a wealthy family and is the eligible bachelor in town. Camilla is determine to make her dreams come true of opening her own business. She goes to a ball hoping to find someone to partner with her. When Jordan sees Camilla his world changes.

After the event he goes in search of her, since he was mesmerized by her. You will need to read the book to find out more. You will see that Camilla is a strong character that speaks her mind and fights for her dreams and Jordan isn’t exactly what the tabloids say about him. You will be happily surprised on who Jordan really is and how charming he is. I was happy that the main character is Latina. We need more diversity in romance novels. Enjoy the romance and always keep your eyes open in search for that prince charming.

Kristen Bell and Benjamin Hart have created a hilarious and joyous read-aloud that offers a wonderful message about embracing the things that bring us together as humans. This book will inspire a whole generation to paint the world purple!

My Review: 5 Out of 5 Stars

What a beautiful book for all the children to enjoy. They are sure going to enjoy such a happy book. Purple is my favorite color and us purple people are super awesome. They are 5 steps to being a purple person. We ask great questions, laugh a lot, use our voices, work very hard and most importantly we are us. What’s even more amazing is that anyone can be a purple person. I really enjoyed the illustrations. I couldn’t get over the little worm with his funny faces. He is a real cheerleader. Let’s not forget the bird with the hat and glasses, hehe! This book will truly brighten anyone’s day. Read the book and stay purple and happy.

Review: Fox & Rabbit by Beth Ferry and Illustrations by Gergely Dudas

A graphic-novel series for emerging readers about the simple magic of true friendship

Easy-going Fox and anxious Rabbit seem like total opposites. But, somehow, they make the perfect pair! Whether searching for hidden treasure or planting a garden in their own backyard, Fox and Rabbit find everyday magic at every turn. On this first adventure, the pair will discover some new favorite things like sunsets, dandelions, and cotton candy. And they’ll face new fears like heights, swimming, and (poisonous!) frogs. Thankfully, there’s nothing Fox and Rabbit can’t do together!

My Review: Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I love the adventures Fox and Rabbit have. They are such great friends that enjoy having fun together. This book had a few stories.

The first story they both go to a fair. Fox has a swell time winning, while Rabbit cannot win anything. At the end they enjoy the fireworks and the time at the fair.

The second story they go to the beach. Fox can’t wait to go swimming, while Rabbit found every excuse to do anything to avoid the water. He is super scared of the water. Rabbit decides to dig the deepest hole. Fox finally gets him in the water and he loved it. They enjoyed the sunset and find a message in a bottle.

Their next adventure is the map they found inside the bottle. They are supposed to find a secret island, but they need to cross high mountains and creepy smelly waters. They were both brave and made it to the island, but didn’t find what was so fantastic about this place. They enjoy their company and nature.

The last story Sparrow teaches them how to garden. They worked so hard to see their plants grow to find them all eaten. Rabbit just couldn’t help himself.

I love Fox and Rabbit’s adventure, because they always play together and go on adventures together. There are times where one is having a happier time but at the end they work together to make each other happy. The illustrations are so cute. I love the turtle arriving at the end of each chapter asking if he missed anything. That is super funny.
