Review: Blood of Zeus by Meredith Wild and Angel Payne

Goodreads Blurb

An ancient grudge. A forbidden love.

The only thing worse than being a demon is being a Valari. As an undergraduate at Los Angeles’s Alameda University, Kara Valari can sometimes succeed at forgetting she’s both. Lost between the pages of the classics and tucked into the shadows of lecture halls, she can dodge the paparazzi’s lenses as well as her family’s publicized dramas—not to mention their private expectations. She has one more year to feed her true passions. Then she’ll be expected to fulfill a much darker destiny.

Cursed with inexplicable strength and god-like stature, literature professor Maximus Kane knows all about darkness. Every day he’s reminded of the missteps of his childhood and the devastating consequences they’ve had on those dearest to him. To atone, Maximus spends his nights alone and his days submerged in the quiet life of academia. His existence has become a study in control, and he’s become a master at it—until Kara Valari walks into his toughest course.

Viscerally, Kara’s everything he craves. Logically, she’s everything he rejects. She’s a starlet of privilege. She’s also a student. And after one touch, he can’t deny that she’s awakened something in him that may never go dormant. Nothing about her makes sense, but everything about her feels right. Especially in the deepest strands of his DNA, which are still shadows of mystery to him—a mystery Kara seems determined to uncover.

She’s Hollywood royalty. She’s forbidden fruit. And he’s pretty sure she could be the answer to everything.

My Review: Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Forbidden love between demon and demigod will not stop Kara and Maximus from staying away from each other. The intense feelings they ignite when they are together is like yin and yang. Maximus Kane is the hot teacher that Kara has intense feelings for, she never felt these deep feelings for anyone. I must say I agree with Kara, since I would have had the hots for Maximus too. Kara’s destiny is already decided for. She is to give herself to a demon because of her families past mistakes.

I enjoyed the story between the forbidden love. It was forbidden for two reasons, first the main characters were having a student/teacher relationship and secondly, love between a demon/demigod shouldn’t happened. I loved the last few chapters. They were intense and Maximus got the answers he desperately searched for. I can’t wait to see what will happen next. Will Maximus protect Kara? Can this love last a lifetime?

Review: ABC’s of Oceanography by Chris Ferrie and Katherina Petrou

Goodreads Blurb

It only takes a small spark to ignite a child’s mind! The ABCs of Oceanography introduces babies (and grownups!) to a new oceangraphic concept for each letter of the alphabet. From algae, beachrock, and current all the way to zooplankton. It’s never too early to become an ocean explorer!

With scientific information from experts, this is the perfect book for enlightening the next generation of geniuses.

My review: Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Bravo, this book is so educational. I am in my 30’s and let me tell you, I learned so many new words. This book is the book that as your child grows, they get to learn more. The book has three levels of learning. Small children can learn their ABC’s, while learning new words and understanding the images. As they grow older they can read the short sentence about each image. When they know how to read full sentences, they can read the definitions that are very informative about each oceanographic image in this book. I highly recommend you pick up this book. Such a great book to learn more about our beautiful oceans and fun creatures who reside there. I am sure anyone who reads this book will learn something new.

Review: Fox & Rabbit Make Believe by Beth Ferry

Goodreads Blurb

Fox and Rabbit are the very best of friends. They do everything together. Good things like getting ice cream and not-so-good things like getting bad haircuts. But when they meet a new friend, Owl, Fox isn’t so sure if there’s enough friendship to go around. Soon, Fox learns that it’s easy to be friends with Rabbit and Owl. They have lots of fun exploring the depths of Owl’s big imagination. Together, Fox and Rabbit and Owl sail the high seas, get swallowed by a whale, defeat evil woodchucks, and more—all from the comfort of the playground.

My Review: Rated 4 out of 5 stars

A fun little comic with a fox and a rabbit having some make believe adventures. The book is broken into 5 stories with friends, adventures and vocabulary words to help kids familiarize with new words. I loved this book since it has some really great animal characters. They have a turtle as a friend and a flamingo makes an appearance. That’s my favorite bird. The characters are very relatable to how children play together and how their imagination runs wild when they play. Kids will enjoy the illustrations and the vivid colors. This is an easy read and children will learn new vocabulary words throughout the book.

Author Biography

Book Mail: Little Deadly Secrets by Pamela Crane

Goodreads Blurb

From USA Today bestselling author Pamela Crane comes an addictively readable domestic suspense novel…

Mackenzie, Robin, and Lily have been inseparable forever, sharing life’s ups and downs and growing even closer as the years have gone by. They know everything about each other. Or so they believe.

Nothing could come between these three best friends . . .

Except for a betrayal.

Nothing could turn them against each other . . .

Except for a terrible past mistake.

Nothing could tear them apart . . .

Except for murder.

Author Biography

Pamela Crane is a professional juggler. Not one who can toss flaming torches in the air (though how cool would that be?), but a juggler of four kids, a writing addiction, a horse rescuer, and a book editor by trade. She lives on the edge (ask her Arabian horse about that—he’ll tell you all about their wild adventures while trying to train him) and she writes on the edge…where her sanity resides. Her USA Today best-selling Mental Mommy books unravel flawed women—some she knows, some she creates—and they aren’t always pretty. In fact, her characters are rarely pretty, which makes them interesting…and perfect for doing crazy things worth writing about. When she’s not cleaning horse stalls or changing diapers, she’s psychoanalyzing others.
