My Review: Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Another fantastic story written by the amazing Bette Lee Crosby, that will bring readers to tears. Sometimes those tears will be for happiness of the characters and at times those tears will be a river full of darkness and unhappiness. Family is something we all live to have and cherish for all our life’s. Life sometimes doesn’t turn out the way we hope for and need to make very tough decisions to give the ones we love a chance at a better life. This story will tear at your heart. A story of a dad who was unreliable and didn’t care for his family. A mother who suffered so much because of the love she had for her husband and even more her children. A daughter who took a journey of a lifetime to find her family that she lost touch with for over 50 years and found her happiness with the person who helped her search for them.

This story intertwines two amazing stories as Margaret Rose McCutcheon goes in search of all her siblings that she lost touch with for over 50 years. Her mother wasn’t able to give them the life she wanted them to have after their father was out of the picture. Eliza’s love for her children was so immense that she had to let go of all her children in order to know that they will have a better life in the future with the caregivers she left them with. Margaret was always hopeful to be able to find all her siblings and reunite with them. She got married but never had children of her own and she always wanted to have children to relive the wonderful years she had with her siblings.

Margaret goes on an adventure of a lifetime. One she never thought she would ever go on and one in which she never knew what she would find. Margaret hires Tom Bateman to help her find her lost family. Tom gave Margaret back a new start to a new life. He was able to find all her siblings and reconnect her with them. During her travels she also grew close to Tom as he was very different from her past husband. Tom has a huge heart that Margaret just couldn’t avoid it as hard as she might try.

This heartwarming story will leave the readers wanting to learn more of the secret that Eliza kept from all the younger children and will be have them anxious to know if Margaret finds her long lost family. Bette is such an amazing storyteller that always writes stories with real life events. She isn’t scared of showing the darkest secrets of family, while telling a story that will tug at your heart, while adding the extra warmth of love.

My Review: Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Well, I wanted to love it and read it in a few weeks, but I couldn’t concentrate on the story. I think the book had some confusing parts, such as the parts where an event happened one way, but then maybe it really happened this way. I was like, what is going on? What truly do I believe?

The story in itself was a story that many women can relate in jobs that are primary male dominated. This story many of us can relate to and probably have had certain situations happened where your superiors want to hide the harassments under the rug saying your being too sensitive and just move on with your day.

I was truly frighten for Eliza. To have people stalking your every move via the web or while your out and about is truly scary. They even knew where she lived and her every move as eyes are everywhere. I feel terrible for dog. That was such a terrible act of animal cruelty.

This book included so many different issues. It included harassments in the workplace, virtual harassment, stalking, suicide and violence. All eyes were on Eliza when the most horrible thing happened to her, because she was a threat to all the men in the video game family. If her harassment claims would have been taken seriously, maybe what happened to Eliza could have been avoided. Overall, the book had a very good plot and a story that needed to be told at a time that is needed the most for female equality in the workforce.
