Sometimes the most awesome friendships start with HEY THERE!

My Review: 4 out of 5 Stars

A heartwarming picture book. How many ways can you say hello to someone?

Well they are many. Sometimes you can say hi verbally, other times you can wave or even smile. You can say hello in so many ways that you can make anyone feel special. A very sweet book at a time where we most wish to see someone’s smile or even to hug them. The children will enjoy the illustrations and the great words. I loved that Sandra used animals in her book. Animals are so adorable, we all just want to hug and squeeze them. Received this book from Sourcebooks Early Reads. Great book for all to enjoy a little, Hello!

Review: The Ultimate Survival Guide to Bedtime Monsters by Mitch Frost, Pictures by Daron Parton

Goodreads Blurb

A hilarious bedtime book that’s perfect for anyone, big or small, who’s afraid of what might be lurking under the bed.

Do you like awake at night worrying about monsters? Donut monsters? Blue monsters? DANCING ROBOT MONSTERS?! Then this is the book for you! This guide offers ten easy steps to ensure you’ll never be bothered by monsters again. Not even carrot monsters.

This hysterically illustrated picture book offers actionable solutions to fears about monsters that will make kids feel confident and that parents will appreciate too, like Step 2: brush your teeth before bed, because monsters hate the smell of minty fresh breath.

And don’t miss the cool free poster underneath the book jacket! Just take it off, hang it up, and never worry about monsters again.

My Review: Rated 3 out of 5 Stars

I received a copy for an honest review from Sourcebooks Early Reads.

The book was slightly funny with funky monsters. The book uses techniques for children to clean their room, brush their teeth etc. Which is suppose to assist with keeping monsters away when you sleep. The book has 10 tips that are supposed to help children from not being afraid of monsters before they go to bed. The illustrations are colorful and interesting. The monsters are funny looking but not scary. Great book that will assist parents with the children doing chores and daily hygiene’s.

Author Biography

Sybil Bartel grew up in Northern California with her head in a book and her feet in the sand. She dreamt of becoming a painter but the heady scent of libraries with their shelves full of books drew her into the world of storytelling. She loves the New Adult genre, but any story about a love so desperately wrong and impossibly beautiful makes her swoon.
Sybil now resides in Southern Florida and while she doesn’t get to read as much as she likes, she still buries her toes in the sand. If she isn’t writing or fighting to contain the banana plantation in her backyard, you can find her spending time with her handsomely tattooed husband, her brilliantly practical son and a mischievous miniature boxer…

But Seriously?

Here are ten things you probably really want to know about Sybil.

She grew up a faculty brat. She can swear like a sailor. She loves men in uniform. She hates being told what to do. She can do your taxes (but don’t ask). The Bird Market in Hong Kong freaks her out. Her favorite word is desperate…or dirty, or both—she can’t decide. She has a thing for muscle cars. But never reply on her for driving directions, ever. And she has a new book boyfriend every week—don’t tell her husband.

Review: The Cat in the Box by Chris Ferrie

Goodreads Blurb

Finally, a simplified explanation of Schrodinger’s cat paradox for quantum mechanics enthusiasts!

Have you been lying awake at night pondering quantum superposition? Have you fretted about how to explain its flawed interpretation? Are you a fan of Schrodinger’s cat? Or do you know someone who is? This is the book for you!

Award-winning physicist, quantum enthusiast and bestselling author of the Baby University series Chris Ferrie, has transformed Schrodinger’s paradox into a whimsical poem perfect for science fans or anyone who enjoys using cats and boxes to explain science experiments.

My Review: Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I must start by saying Math is my worst subject and I never took Physics. Probably the worst person to understand this book. I was hoping to learn something, but I was more confused at the end then I was at the beginning of this book. I was glad for the brief bio on Mr. Schrodinger, since I had no idea who he was. I think the illustrations were fun. The story was written in verse form that might have made it a little more complex to understand. I don’t feel like this story will be understood by children. Quantum theory left be stumped and clueless just like Schrodinger. I must stick to what I know.

Author Biography

Chris Ferrie is a physicist, mathematician and father of four budding young scientists. He obtained his doctorate in Mathematical Physics from the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Canada and is currently a faculty member at the Centre for Quantum Software and Information in Syndey, Australia. Chris believes it is never too early to introduce children to the wild and wonderful world of science!

Review: Isabella: Girl in Charge by Jennifer Fosberry, Illustrations by Mike Litwin

Goodreads Blurb

Plucky, purple-haired Isabella, star of the New York Times bestselling picture book series, is back for another adventure!

Just how high can a little girl dream?

A big event has Isabella ready to leave home at the crack of dawn. But that’s a motion her parents are not likely to pass. After a two-to-one vote, it’s decided that some things need to happen before Isabella can leave the house—like eating breakfast and brushing her teeth!

If her house is going to work like a democracy, Isabella knows what she has to do; call an assembly and campaign her way out the door!

Taking inspiration from the women who trail blazed their way onto the political map of America, Isabella celebrates the women who were first to hold their offices. And if Isabella can get her parents out the door, she might just witness the first woman voted into the highest position of all…

My Review 3 out of 5 Stars

The right to vote should be everyone’s right, regardless of gender. I am very proud to say that I have the right to vote and have my voice heard, because of the many women who fought for the right to vote, while putting themselves in danger, in order for all women to have the right to vote.

Isabella is super adorable and she changes her name and her outfits to resemble the many leading ladies in politics. The illustrations are adorable. What I think was lacking from this book is that most children wouldn’t know who the first female, major or governor is by just using the first name of the lady. The book doesn’t detail who these fabulous ladies are during the story. At the end of the book it does give a background description of these outstanding ladies and a timeline.

I’m not quite sure younger children will understand the story. I loved that at the end Isabella want was going to the Capital to see a woman be named as president. I hope I get to see this in my lifetime. Women in politics continue to push boundaries and I hope that the world can see that a woman can lead a whole country.
