Local journalist and amateur sleuth Violet Rhinehammer planned to cover the town’s cozy festivities at the lodge, not investigate a chilling crime. But when a renowned artist is found dead, the Merry Maker’s magic is overshadowed by secrets, lies, and a stolen ornament design that could hold the key to a killer’s identity.
As the suspect list grows—complete with bitter rivals, suspicious relatives, and gossipy Southern Charm reporters—Violet finds herself drawn into the heart of the mystery. With charming lawyer Darren Strickland offering both help and holiday distractions, Violet uncovers long-buried secrets hidden in the lodge’s tunnels. But with the killer still at large, the snow-covered streets of Holiday Junction may not be so merry after all.
Can Violet untangle the twisted motives and solve the case before the tree lighting ceremony—or will this Christmas end with a deadly surprise?
My Review: Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Let’s ring in the holiday season with this cozy mystery that will give you a front-row seat to the magic that the holiday season brings each year, plus a little murder mystery to add a little spice to your gingerbread latte. Tonya is an outstanding storyteller. This novel describes Christmas in all its glory. I felt like I was in this magical story, getting all the Christmassy feelings and trying to figure out the murder mystery with Violet. As a lover of old buildings and mansions, I had the best time reading through the holiday magic of the town and the lodge. I’m hoping future novels will go in-depth about other locations, as Tonya does a great job of being descriptive with the details.
I was swooning with the romantic gestures by Darren. Darren is the prince charming we all long for. I was captivated by his creativity and how much he does to make Violet happy. He is husband material if you ask me. Now let’s talk about the way Lionel got murdered because that was the first time I heard of a murder by an icicle. It was a brilliant idea since no murder weapon would be available by the time help arrived. This holiday-themed murder mystery will leave you singing “Feliz Navidad” while sleuthing through the snow for clues. Can Violet figure out who murdered Lionel?
