USA Today bestselling author Michelle Hercules always knew creative arts were her calling but not in a million years did she think she would write a novel. With a background in fashion design she thought she would follow that path. But one day, out of the blue, she had an idea for a book. One page turned into ten pages, ten pages turned into a hundred, and before she knew, her first book, The Prophecy of Arcadia, was born.

Author Biography

Ivy Nelson is an emerging contemporary romance author, hopeful romantic, and passionate advocate who is versed in all things steamy, sultry, and sensual. It all started back when she read her first steamy romance novel at the age of fourteen. From that point forward, it became her favorite genre–one she wanted to write in herself someday. Sylvia Day’s writing style cemented that passion, and gave her just the inspiration she needed to be an author herself. In December of 2018, Ivy published her debut novel, Power Desired at the age of 32.

Most recently, Ivy completed the “D.C. Power Games” series and the prequel to her forthcoming “Diamond Doms series” titled “Hard” (currently available for pre-order). In a not-so-distant past, she was a student affairs professional at a university and earned her political science degree, which explains her politically-driven romance debut.

My Review: Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This book had some frightening stories. When I started to read this book I thought it was one full story, but this book was broken into 4 different creepy stories.

The first story was The Haunting of Gillespie House. It was a huge estate that was filled with secrets. Elle is to stay in the mansion all by herself babysitting the home. She starts to hear noises and wonders off in the mansion to check out the home. What she finds will frighten her to death. The mysteries behind the walls are centuries old with pure evil and vengeance. She will need to fight for her life in order to survive this nightmare. Death sometimes doesn’t mean a person is gone forever. When their heart is full of darkness they will linger for revenge.

The second story is Bed and Breakfast. Rory goes to a creepy Bed and Breakfast to record any haunting activity. On recommendations from her followers. The owner warns her not to come out of her room the whole night. She of course decides to continue her recording. She starts seeing a man outside her window and she gets frightened. She of course doesn’t stay in her room. This story will have bloodied doors with a dead husband roaming the inn. Be careful of rundown Bed and Breakfast that aren’t even searchable on search engines. Your nightmares will become reality.

Crawlspace is the next story. I must say the ending of this book scared the crap out of me. A family moves to a new home full of secrets. The young girl had a small crawlspace with a door that wouldn’t open. She kept hearing a clacking noise thinking it was a tree outside banging on her window. She finally decides to open the crawlspace. Seriously, why would you do that? She then decides that going inside in the night was a good idea. Now what she finds are locked doors, walls closing in and frightening dead children. Heck no! This frightened me the rest of the night. Do not read this one at night.

The final story is Lights Out. This story truly had what many people are frighten of “Mannequins”. White mannequins with no face to add to the frightfulness with the added idea that they are porcelain and unbreakable. Darcy finished this book with a bang. Store clerks start to disappear and no one knows what happens to them. Well my friends are you ready for the fright, because humans some how end up as those mannequins. I kid you not, I will not look at a mannequin the same. They might blink at me or stare at me. Nope, no thank you.

Overall, all the stories had parts that will creep you out. Highly recommend you read during the day. Received this book from Sourcebooks early reads for an honest review.

I really loved this book. Cookie Monster is so funny. He really loves his cookies. He spent such a fun day with Elmo that he wanted to do something nice for him. He decided to bake cookies for Elmo. What is Cookie Monsters favorite treat? Well of course Cookies!

He couldn’t help himself and ate the whole batch. He did another batch to only do the same thing. He finally was given the best idea ever, why not bake the cookies with Elmo? That is exactly what he did. He shared the fun of baking with his best friend Elmo and they both ate from the cookies. At the end of the book is a cookie recipe. I loved the illustrations. If I was baking the cookies for a friend I would have done the same thing. I love chocolate chip cookies too. Children are going to enjoy this book.

The perfect book for every grandmother to read to their grandkids. I loved that the illustrations are different animals. They are so cute. Each character has a little child with the grandmother, where they are cooking a different cookie in each page. This is great to do a different cookie in the month of December with the children. This way they can understand the different cookies and how they taste.

It also creates wonderful memories. At the end of the book the author provided a recipe for sugar cookies. I loved the gingerbread cookies in the inside cover, since they are my favorite cookies and all my decorations are gingerbreads. Cute book that will have the children excited to bake cookies. I received this book from Sourcebooks for early reads for an honest review.
